H.R. 2063 - (Federal Legislation) The Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Management Act was introduced in April 2008. "H.R. 2063 would direct the Secretary of Health and Human Services, in consultation with the Secretary of Education, to develop a voluntary policy for managing the risk of food allergy and anaphylaxis in schools, and it would establish school-based food allergy management grants."



HB 1368 - Amends the Child Nutrition Act of 1966 to require the Secretary of Agriculture to revise the definition of "food of minimal nutritional value," the sale of which in areas where school meals are sold or eaten is prohibited as a condition for federal funding of school lunch and breakfast programs.



HB 4569 - Bans the sale or use of lindane for the treatment of lice or scabies except under the direct supervision of a physician in his or her office, and only where the physician considers use of the product necessary for the treatment of a patient’s lice or scabies.



SB 36 - Requires school districts, ISDs and Public Academies to implement a policy concerning pupils with serious food allergies to limit possible exposures



HB 4036 - Prohibits the sale of certain foods and beverages in public schools including chewing gum, candy bars, soft drinks, food or drink that consists of 35% or > sugar, juice < 100% fruit or vegetable juice, food or drink with > 8 grams of fat. Schools with existing food or beverage contracts are exempt until the expiration of the original terms of the contract expires.

SB 600 - Amends the Public Health Service Act to establish the School-Based Health Clinic Program



HB 1688 - HB 1688 Simplifies and consolidates children’s health coverage under Medicaid & SCHIP into a single program that guarantees children in the U.S. all medically necessary services.



HB 5052 - Requires MDOE in conjunction with MDCH and dept of agriculture to establish guidelines and make available to all school districts, ISDs, and Public School Academies a model policy for the management of certain students with certain life-threatening health issues; establish. Requires the MDOE to consult with appropriate medical experts and professional organizations representing school nurses, principals, teachers, and with the food allergy community. SB 578 - Amends the Social Security Act to improve requirements under the Medicaid program for items and services furnished in or through an educational program or setting to children, including children with developmental, physical, or mental health needs, and for other purposes.



HB 1017 - If enacted, this legislation would increase Medicaid reimbursement to school districts by adding services provided to Section 504 covered students.
